Weight Lifting Stretch Marks
Weight Lifting Stretch Marks
In all likelihood, you equate stretch marks with pregnant women and fat individuals who lost plenty of body weight. Thus, you see them with those white, wavy lines across their bellies, hips, thighs, arms and legs that are more unsightly than they are dangerous to health. Did you know, however, that there is also such a thing as weight lifting stretch marks? Yes, these are the same stretch marks seen on formerly pregnant women and fat individuals, which you will also see on the likes of weightlifters like Ronnie Coleman and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Causes of Stretch Marks
When skin is stretched during the process of bulking up, the collagen cells that bind it together and make it elastic are broken up. In turn, your skin is being torn apart at the cellular level that can be visibly seen as the stretch marks in various parts of your body. Unfortunately, short of undergoing a skin graft operation, you never really regain the elastic suppleness of the skin once it starts to exhibit weight lifting stretch marks.
Prevention of Stretch Marks
Fortunately, you have many ways with which to prevent their appearance. This way, you can truly parade around in your skinny briefs on stage or on the beach without worrying about stretch marks marring the massive size and beautiful symmetry of your muscles.
You should provide as much moisture as possible for your skin starting from the inside. You have to drink plenty of water and fruit juices especially when you are training in the gym. In this way, you supply a steady stream of fluids to your cells including your skin. However, you should never drink coffee and alcoholic beverages if you wish to avoid weight lifting stretch marks. These stimulants also dry up the skin from the inside and, hence, are a big no-no.
Also, you need to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy essential oils from fishes and nuts. These are very rich in vitamins known for their positive effects on healthy skin, said vitamins and minerals being A, C, E and zinc. In addition, you have to regulate your muscle growth - not too fast, not too slow. If you bulk up too fast, your skin will stretch too quickly and, hence, will have stretch marks. If you bulk up too slow, you may not have the ripped body you want before the Mr. Olympia competition, plain and simple.
Lastly, you should also moisturize your skin from the outside. For this purpose, you should choose the creams and lotions used by pregnant women for their stretch mark prevention routine. You will benefit from the specially-formulated ingredients made from cocoa butter shea butter, castor oil and vitamin E, to name a few components. Ordinary lotions and creams just will not cut it for the prevention of weight lifting stretch marks.
Now, if you already have stretch marks because you failed to adopt one or more of the abovementioned prevention methods, the best way is often to remedy the damage as much as you can. The emphasis will still be on the same things but you should not expect spectacular results than had you tried to prevent weight lifting stretch marks in the first place.
